After the success of previous WebInno events, we’ve set the details for the next gathering:
Boston Web Innovators Group (WebInno)
Monday March 20th at 6:30pm
Taylor Room, Hotel @ MIT, Kendall Square
As usual, the event will start with three company demonstrations at 7pm, followed by a few hours of schmoozing.
The event is open to all who are interested in web and mobile innovation. If you plan to attend, I would appreciate it if you would RSVP on our event wiki page so we can give an accurate assessment of attendance.

Each of the WebInno meetings starts with presentations from early-stage and largely self-funded start-ups. The profile can range from a sole innovator hacking on a new idea or service to a founder of an emerging new business which hasn’t raised institutional funding. These five minute demos give an opportunity for the innovator/entrepreneur to present his service or offering to the community to foster discussion and seek feedback. (It is not, however, intended to be a “pitch” for capital-raising purposes). The goal is highlight people and companies who are on the edge of web and mobile innovation in the Boston area in an effort to share and promote new ideas.
If you or your company meets the above profile, I encourage you to apply to present at the next event by e-mailing me with an overview your company/service and the focus of your presentation. Keep in mind that the space is limited, as I aim to select those demonstrators who will most enrich the community.

The past couple events have been documented by a number of bloggers who attended.
Our November meeting featured three demos from the founders of the early stage startups Blogniscient (Ben Ruedlinger), reddit (Steve Huffman & Alexis Ohanian), and Kiko (Emmett Shear). I had a chance to write about this meeting, and so did Peter Caputa, Ray Deck, and Brandy Karl.
The January event included presentations from Joshua Schanker of Sconex, Gregor Rothfuss, and Richard Banfield of Fresh Tilled Soil. Brian Del Vecchio blogged about it and posted photos. Other write-ups can be found on the tourbus blog and Adam Green’s.
Feel free to post links to other posts and photos which I missed in the comments section below.

I wanted to extend a special thank you to Ryan Sarver of Qiio for his help in creating the new WebInno site. With an updated look & feel, as well as a dedicated blog and wiki, we now have a richer set of tools for communicating about the group and our events. We’re appreciative of the time which he donated to the organization. Thanks, Ryan.

Welcome to the Web Innovators Group (WebInno) blog.
The group started informally in the fall of 2005 with a few entrepreneurs and other creative web thinkers gathering in Cambridge to share their ideas. It quickly grew a slightly more structured recurring event with presentations from self-funded startups followed by a general networking session.
As the attendance to the events has increased, it appeared that it would be beneficial to have a centralized website to coordinate information about the group itself and communication about upcoming events.
My hope is to continue organizing these meetings, with the help of others in the community, as a venue for web and mobile innovators in the Boston area to share and exchange their ideas.
I am always open your feedback and suggestions to improving the events or adding to the organization. Please feel free to contact me with your thoughts.
