It’s been just over a week since the Web Innovators Group event packed the house at the Sonesta, and I am still feeling the excitement from the event. First, congratulations to Book of Odds for taking home the Audience Choice award. The sneak-preview of the service definitely resonated with those in attendance.
And from the feedback I’ve heard from folks, the special panel session was well received by the entrepreneurs in the audience, offering some practical/tactical advice for those endeavoring on bootstrapping their media relations. Our all-star participants of Mike Troiano, Scott Kirsner , Wade Roush , Peter Kafka, and Bob Brown certainly engaged the crowd… although not without some vibrant reactions and opinions, especially from the public relations practitioners in the room. The next couple days the blogosphere was teeming with thoughts about the role of PR. Lora Kratchounova, Bobbie Carleton, Jason Evanish, John Wall, Chuck Tanowitz, Nathan Burke, and Kellye Crane all weighed in their thoughts, with panel moderator Mike Troiano and panelist Wade Roush responding. The entire conversation is definitely worth a read, especially if you were in attendance.
Mark you calendars that the next WebInno event is on December 7th. I’ll be creating a registration page in the next couple weeks.
Hi David,
WebInno23 was terrific! What a great group of companies and a thought-provoking panel. (Thanks for the link to my post about the panel.)
The PR conversation is indicative of a couple of different trends — the de-expertising of the professions and the “do it all” nature of business today.
When will we sleep if we’re trying to create a new company, build a new product, unite a team, and also do all the marketing too? But everyone thinks they can do anything because they read about it online, or they can “Google an answer.” And because they think they can do it, they try. Often, the end result is that nothing is getting done well because the efforts are too scattered.
The discussion about PR this panel kicked off is merely the tip of a much bigger iceberg.
Love to see you next week at Mass Innovation Nights!
